Do I have to fly from Gatwick?

At present all our flights to Tobago operate from London Gatwick. Please also see our detailed flight information.

What is the cost of living like?

A simple lunch – say a salad and a couple of beers – would cost around £7–10 per head. Dinner including drinks would cost between £20 and £35 per person, depending on the venue. We can give more details if you wish. Supermarket shopping is similar to UK prices although some items are vastly more expensive, many are much cheaper than you would find at home. Ask our office for a sample supermarket price list.

I am a vegetarian - will I have problems?

Most restaurants will offer vegetarian options, if a little limited, but you will find the supermarkets and the local markets have an abundance of delicious fruit and vegetables. If you eat fish you will find this plentiful.

What is the food like?

Tobago has a wide variety of restaurants. Local dish specialities are served almost everywhere but we have discovered good Thai and Italian as well as the usual international dishes. There are lots of casual eating places in the Crown Point area as well as some takeaway outlets. We have complied a list of places to eat, that we hope you will find useful, and will send you this with your final documentation.

What are the shops like?

Scarborough has very good shopping as well as a produce market. There are plenty of craft shops as well as all essential stores. There are shops and mini-markets in and around the villages but shopping facilities are scarcer in the country regions

What do your representatives do for clients on the islands?

They will meet you at the airport on arrival and will take you to your accommodation. They will contact you early in your stay to make sure that all is well and will give you any help you may require regarding car hire, excursions and other places of interest etc. They will be your point of contact if you need any assistance during your holiday and they will pick you up and take you to the airport on your departure day.

Is it easy to get around?

Many clients choose to hire a car or a jeep for all or part of their holiday but many of our hotels are located in areas which mean car hire is not essential. Taxis are readily available and the local buses are a real experience!

How child-friendly is Tobago?

Children and families are very much welcomed to Tobago and all of our hotels and accommodations are happy to accept children. Many of the hotels have free kayaks and boats for children to use and some have organised activities.

What about the weather and hurricanes?

Weather patterns around the world are becoming more and more difficult to predict and the Caribbean is no exception. Historically the Caribbean has two seasons: wet & dry with the wet season running from July to December and the dry season from January to June. However in recent years we have seen above average rainfall in the dry season but less than expected in the wet season! Tropical showers can happen at any time of the year, of course, but rarely last for more than a few minutes. Temperatures are fairly constant throughout the year but reaching their peak during the summer months. The Hurricane season is, in theory, from June to November, with Tobago generally considered to be outside of the hurricane belt, however the best thing to do is to discuss the situation in detail with our expert staff if travelling in this period.

Do you really know every hotel and villa personally?

Absolutely. Our staff have all spent considerable time in Tobago visiting all our accommodation. They know each villa and hotel room by room and they have a close working relationship with the owners and staff. Our knowledge of restaurants, shops, sporting facilities and trips to the many varied corners of the island has been accumulated over a period of years.
